Veralene Garrett Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Description
The Veralene Garrett Memorial Scholarship honors Veralene Garrett’s 25 years of service as a Rape Crisis Counselor for Community Violence Solutions in Contra Costa and Marin counties. This $2,500 annual scholarship supports students pursuing degrees in social sciences who plan to work in public service and help people in crisis.

Established in honor of Veralene Garrett’s 25 years of service as a Rape Crisis Counselor
Awarded to a college student pursuing a degree in social sciences with a focus on public service
Finalists will participate in a short interview with the scholarship committee
Eligibility Criteria
Currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year college
Pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in social sciences
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Planning a career in public service
Application Process
Complete the application form
Submit a recommendation from a faculty member or leadership representative by May 1, 2025
Provide a copy of your college transcript
Include a summary of school and community activities, awards, and recognitions
If selected as a finalist, participate in a short interview with the scholarship committee
