Tien VO MD Grant

A $1,000 annual educational investment in the future of U.S. college students. Founded by Dr. Tien Vo — a physician, healthcare entrepreneur, and community leader in Imperial County, California — this grant removes financial barriers so every student can focus on what matters most: learning.

Who Is Tien VO MD? The physician and philanthropist behind the grant:
Tien Vo, MD is a physician, healthcare entrepreneur, and dedicated philanthropist based in El Centro, California. Born in Vietnam and raised in the United States, Dr. Vo’s personal journey — from immigrant student to medical doctor — fuels his commitment to removing barriers that prevent talented individuals from reaching their full potential.

Dr. Vo serves as the founder and CEO of Legacy MD Medical Group, a multi-specialty healthcare organization providing comprehensive care across Imperial County. He also founded EasyAccess Care IPA, an independent physician association coordinating care for thousands of patients in the region.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Vo earned national recognition as the “rock star doctor” of the California–Mexico border, personally administering over 50,000 vaccine doses in one of the hardest-hit regions in the United States. His tireless work was covered by the Associated Press, NBC News, and numerous national outlets.

Why the Tien VO MD Grant Exists:
A $1,000 award designed to remove barriers to higher education

Removing Financial Barriers:
Many talented students face financial obstacles that have nothing to do with their ability or ambition. This grant provides direct funding to help bridge the gap between aspiration and achievement.

No GPA Gatekeeping
Academic potential cannot be measured by a single number. By eliminating GPA requirements, the grant recognizes that every student’s journey is unique and that circumstances often shape grades more than capability.

Empowering Future Leaders
Dr. Vo believes that investing in education is the most powerful way to create lasting change. Every dollar invested in a student’s education multiplies across communities and generations.
