V.J. Guinan Presidential Scholars Program (full tuition scholarship)
FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN, FALL 2024. The V.J. Guinan Presidential Scholars Program is a four-year opportunity for a select number of Catholic students who are in continuous pursuit of academic excellence and servant leadership. This program awards full tuition scholarships to students who excel academically and uphold the Catholic mission of the University. This opportunity is open to incoming freshmen only.
Guinan Scholars will have the opportunity to participate in various campus organizations such as Campus Ministry and Admissions- Presidential Ambassador.
A scholarship committee will evaluate the applications and those who are advancing to the second level of competition will be notified in early March. In person interviews will occur on campus in April.

- Please upload a 500-word, typed essay on one of the following topics: (1) In the encyclical Redemptoris Missio, St. Pope John Paul II wrote, “I sense that the moment has come to commit all of the Church's energies to a new evangelization and to the mission ad gentes [to the nations]. No believer in Christ, no institution of the Church can avoid this supreme duty: to proclaim Christ to all peoples.” What does evangelization mean to you and what would you do to evangelize at the University of St. Thomas? (2) One aspect that makes the University of St. Thomas stand out from other schools is the Liberal Arts education it provides to students. What is the importance of a Liberal Arts education and how can it help you succeed in your own major or future profession? (3) Who has been a formative influence in your faith journey? (4) Suppose you lived in a world where faith did not exist. How do you see yourself living in that world? (5) Describe your family Catholic traditions and explain how you anticipate them to change once you are a college student.
